LADA PROSECUTOR MARCIA CLARK
".... The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office made many mistakes but their incompetence would not involve a "change of venue" in the O.J. Simpson matter, as was the case in the Rodney King beating. Shifting this case to "lily white" Simi Valley or Santa Monica would not be tolerated by attorney Robert L. Shapiro and Co...."
"....The District Attorney and prosecutor Marcia Clark in particular, ineffectively led, guided, and directed the activities of the LAPD Robbery Homicide Division. Seeking a premature grand jury indictment in a potential death penalty case would end up being the biggest blunder by the self-depreciating political cronies at the District Attorney’s Office...."
"....The Los Angeles prosecutors accustomed to "strong arm" tactics, brazenly manhandled their LAPD "puppies" at the Robbery Homicide Division, forcing them to effect a premature arrest of O.J. Simpson, knowing the multiple murder investigation was far from being completed. The rushed interrogation of O.J. Simpson by the Robbery Homicide Division detectives was the most incompetent interview ever conducted by a unit that prides itself on being "the best in the world". If they are the best one has to wonder who is the second best? While the Los Angeles grand jury move was a prosecutorial power play, designed to take control of the case from the LAPD, the prosecutors scornful tactics defied logic and at the same time defined Marcia Clark as a paranoid prosecutor who was suffering from "my way or the highway" mentality...."
".... The defense didn't need to conduct opposition research on the fashion setting Marcia Clark, whose "lurid" photos, published by the tabloid media she worshiped, dominated the news. The former ballet dancer and lead prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson case consciously wore her trendy mini-skirts to court and knowingly sought the media spotlight. It was apparent to many of us that Marcia Clark was competing with our own defense attorney Sara Caplan..."
"....In the end, Marcia Clark's disordered personal life would minimize her professional accomplishments and unlike Bob Shapiro and Johnnie Cochran, the maverick prosecutor would never connect with the Los Angeles jury. The jurors in the O.J. Simpson trial did not buy into Mark Fuhrman, Chris Darden, and Marcia Clark's "win at all cost" mentality. The jury would end up "reading" them like a Hollywood script that she, Chris Darden, and Mark Fuhrman were in the process of writing and marketing. Bob Shapiro's civility and competence proved to be much more effective and skillful than the ineffective and overly aggressive approach by the prosecutors from the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office ..." |
